You will serve as a ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the Radio, Sonar and Antenna Systems Branch (Code 274), Engineering Division, Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide technical guidance for preparation of lists on drawings required to execute complex projects.
You will evaluate mandays required for shipchecking, developing each drawing, ordering special material, and preparing test procedures.
You will prepare procedures for conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems.
You will prepare specifications and provide direction for the procurement of special material and services associated with assigned projects.
You will review all drawings, material specifications, test procedures, and other documents.
You will perform engineering analysis and calculations associated with project designs.
You will provide all electrical drawings, special racks and equipment and modifications to install a specific system in a specified space.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of Electrical/Electronics Engineering concepts and principles that were acquired through experience and electrician trade theory training.
Experience evaluating and applying the latest developments and techniques in solving problems not readily treatable by traditional methods.
Experience understanding, communicating, and cooperating with mechanical and structural engineer fields.
Experience conducting tests on various electrical equipment and systems.
Experience preparing reviews of drawings, material specifications, test procedures, and other documents.
Experience performing engineering analysis and calculations.
Experience demonstrating technical knowledge of engineering aspects unique to nuclear powered aircraft carriers, including a working knowledge of special interface and control requirements associated with total ship/system engineering and design work.
