The mission of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is to provide force protection, security, and law enforcement to safeguard personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and other resources for the Pentagon Reservation and designated Department of Defense (DoD) facilities (hereinafter referred to as "the Pentagon Facilities") within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Duties

This position is located in the Enterprise Physical Security Division (EPSD) within PFPA's Security Management Division of Security Integration and Technology Directorate. The EPSD delivers electronic and physical security systems to the Pentagon Facilities, including but not limited to access control, intrusion detection and alarm systems, perimeter detection, video surveillance, duress, identity management, biometrics, and passive/active security protections. Roles and responsibilities of this position are as follows: Serves as a technical subject matter expert on integration and delivery of complex, large scale, enterprise Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to provide a consolidated alarm management and incident response capabilities. ESS include but not limited to access control, intrusion detection and alarm systems, perimeter detection, video surveillance, duress, identity management, biometrics, and passive/active security protections. Develops system level requirements, Statement of Work (SOW), project standards, change and quality control, integration and test plans. Plans and oversees system deployment, operations and maintenance (O&M) support in coordination with end users and technical staff, ensuring all requirements are addressed and the system's capabilities are consistent with the overarching mission of the organization. Applies in-depth technical expertise of current and emerging electronic security system technologies to solve challenging problems related to physical and electronic security. Monitors and maintains the Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) system to ensure minimum down-time, system updates/patches are applied on-time, and technical service tickets are resolved promptly. Communicates system status to stakeholders clearly and promptly. Develops, reviews, and provides feedback on project status briefings, technical documents, standard operating procedures (SOP), meeting minutes, and user guides. Participates in working groups, technical meetings and cross-functional collaboration efforts with end-users and stakeholders to conduct needs assessment, gather requirements and feedback for the purpose of enhancing the systems while improving user experience. Investigates and analyzes existing security measures and the ESS, making key decisions and theoretical assumptions on new security problems not susceptible to treatment by these devices and technologies. Recommends appropriate solutions to mitigate potential vulnerabilities. Prepares comprehensive reports and briefings that include investigation/analysis results, identified problems/requirements and resolution recommendations to the supervisor and leaders.

  • This position is indexed as requiring the Security Fundamentals DoD Certification in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.

Specialized experience is defined as experience in managing a broad spectrum of physical security related projects, implementing physical security programs, and utilizing quality assurance methodologies to confirm work is performed to organizational standards. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no substitution of education for the specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level.
