This position is part of The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. The incumbent serves as the Systems and Network Administrator, working under the general supervision of the Chief Information Officer. The purpose of this position is to provide systems and network management, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of software and hardware systems.

Duties

Perform administrative support in managing accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment. Perform Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) software and hardware installations, updates, upgrades, configurations, and reconfigurations of systems. Troubleshoot software and hardware and communication components. Participate in and support vulnerability assessment and mitigation. Provide end-user desktop environment and telephone customer support. Assist Senior System Administrator in managing applications, communications, and collaboration tools. Assist Senior Network Administrator in managing Virtual and Remote access solutions and communication tools. Assist Senior Systems and Network Administrators in responding and resolving cyber defense incidents. Maintain and update Procedures and Change Control documentation.

Qualifications

At the AD-00 level (GS-12 Grade Equivalency), you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments that require tasks such as: interpreting IT policies, standards, and requirements, and modifying and adapting existing methods and approaches; implementing recommendations independently or as a team member; providing advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues; evaluating and recommending new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services; analyzing and recommending resolution of complex issues associated with the configuration of IT systems; ensuring the integrity and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, and implementation of information systems security programs; and recommending ways to protect the bureau/office's information and information systems. At the AD-00 level (GS-13 Grade Equivalency), you must meet the following qualification: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience for this position includes experience that demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments that require tasks such as: evaluating and recommending the adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services; testing and optimizing the functionality of systems, networks, and data; identifying and defining business or technical requirements applied to the design, development, implementation, management and support of systems and networks; evaluating proposals for the acquisition of IT products and services, ensuring the optimal use of commercially available products; ensuring compliance with data management standards, and recommending new or modified standards to increase; and responding to customer service problems resulting from incidents and/or catastrophic events, such as virus infections or power outages. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
