You will serve as a Supply Technician in the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will evaluate and analyze the ability to execute the demand plan based on resource limitations and capacity constraints. You will identify, prioritize, allocate, and manage inventory to sustain planned operational requirements and to optimize material availability and weapons systems readiness. You will monitor and expedite the delivery of supplies, ship repair parts, equipment, and services to meet pre-determined schedules and priority needs. You will perform extensive and exhaustive searches of mandatory source contracts and blanket purchase agreements, vendor catalogs, electronic commerce, and other data sources to locate appropriate sources of supply. You will ascertain material status and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the status of all materials and services that could impact production timelines.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-7 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Supply Technician experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service procuring, monitoring and expediting the delivery of supplies, repair parts, equipment, and services to meet pre-determined schedules and priority needs. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following duties: 1) Conduct extensive searches for required information and provide supply support to meet urgent requirements for specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and material; 2) Apply an extensive knowledge of purchasing regulations (Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFAR) and DON Purchasing Card Program regulations), procedures, and business practices to make purchases involving specialized requirements; 3) Utilize knowledge of governing supply regulations, policies and procedures and local supply requirements and sources of supplies and services to ensure supply support for construction, renovation, and repair of facility operations requiring items with special handling instructions; and 4) Update, monitor, and maintain data in an automated supply database. To qualify at the GS-6 Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Supply Technician experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal service procuring, monitoring and expediting the delivery of supplies, repair parts, equipment, and services to meet pre-determined schedules and priority needs. Specific work experience must demonstrate the following duties: 1) Conduct searches for required information and provide supply support to meet requirements for specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and material; 2) Utilize a working knowledge of both governing supply and purchasing regulations, policies and procedures, e.g. Government Purchase Card, as well as local supply requirements and sources of supplies and services to ensure supply support for construction, renovation, and repair of facility operations requiring items with special handling instructions; and 3) Update, monitor, and maintain data in an automated supply database.
