The incumbent serves in a staff supporting position for the Office of Quality and Performance Improvement (OQPI) as a section within the Office of the Director, Boise VA Medical Center. This position provides programmatic support to the major functional areas within OQPI including, but not limited to, Patient Safety (PS), Risk Management (RM), Accreditation, Credentialing and Privileging (C&P), Performance Improvement (PI), External Performance Review Program (EPRP), and Infection Control (IC).

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 07/24/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Providing administrative support, including receiving visitors and telephone calls from leadership, hospital staff, other facilities, and outside calls. Must have excellent customer service skills. Ordering supplies, placing work orders/tickets, assisting the department employees with office setup, computer access, and problem-solving. Skill in the use of a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other software applications; Serving as timekeeper preparing timecards for assigned areas daily, verifying sick/annual leave usage, recording comp time/overtime, changes in tours, and ensuring accuracy and timely submission of all timecards, and acts a back-up for other service areas as needed. Serving as Talent Management System (TMS) liaison. Prepares agendas and keeps minutes for boards and committees. Performing work involving collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information supporting patient safety, risk management, accreditation management, credentialing, privileging, investigating, and analyzing adverse quality trends, and recommending/initiating action under the guidance of the chief and program managers. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
Preferred Experience: Familiarity with the Joint Commission, CARF, OIG, or other regulatory bodies is preferred.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work.
However, the work may require walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items, such as papers, books, medical records, office supplies and files. Considerable reading and writing is required. There is frequent use of a computer monitor, computer keyboard, and mouse. Normal or corrected vison, hearing, and manual dexterity are required.
