About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, XVIII ABN Corps, Senior Cdr Aug, G-2 Security, Fort Liberty, NC 28310
Duties
Serves as the Information Security (INFOSEC) Specialist, establishing, maintaining, and administering an effective and efficient INFOSEC program.
Oversees properly markings, effect downgrading / declassification as well as assisting classification problems.
Interprets higher-level guidance, promulgates implementing directives/guidance, and security regulations to the G-2 Security Office.
Administers the Security Education Training Awareness (SETA) programs to establish and maintain collateral security proficiency.
Assists the Special Security Office (SSO) in management of the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communication System (JWICS) and its peripheral devices resident in the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Assists with Information Assurance (IA) requirements for SCIF Electronic Security Systems (ESS).
Provides IA support for all JWICS operating systems, peripherals, and applications inclusive of server and workstations.
Manages Communications Security (COMSEC) material accounting, control and use procedures.
Addresses problems; installs, configures, troubleshoots, and provides maintenance and training in response to customer requirements or inquiries.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 15% of the time.
- Must be able to obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
- This position has been identified as requiring IAT Level II certification. Must obtain security+ and Computing Environment (Windows) certification within 6-months of employment.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

Specialized experience is defined as: experience in executing 1) Information Security program such as properly classifying, marking, destructing and transporting of classified information/materials. 2) Applying logistical support policies, procedures, and/or guidance regarding Information Assurance equipment or systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11).
Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
