About the Position: The incumbent serves as the principal Staff Action Control Officer (SACO) at the MACOM level for the G-3/5/7, the largest Deputy Chief of Staff office under the Office of The Surgeon General. As the SACO for the Readiness Integration Directorate, Headquarters, US Army Medical Command and the Office of The Surgeon General; incumbent develops policy for and executes suspense management and Department of Army (DA) document control procedures.
Duties
Assigns tasks and provides guidance to the divisions in the Readiness Integration Directorate in response to urgent and routine requests for information and provides recommendations on organizational staffing issues.
Establishes and maintains an effective suspense control data base system to ensure proper processing of documents and directorate actions.
Provide administrative and technical advice and guidance as policy/procedure interpretation to the director and other personnel on execution of tasking projects and directorate requirements relating to suspense items and staff actions.
The incumbent is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a Staff Action Control Officer and for ensuring that the standing operating procedures support mission objectives.
Subject position develops original correspondence; research and initiates directorate staff actions pertaining to operational issues.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) applying executive administrative control and direction for staff actions; 2) preparing and maintaining suspense reports; AND 3) providing administrative support such as preparing correspondence, staff actions and assignments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Administration, Business Administration.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
