About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain half way between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, Alabama just off interstate 20. The depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Use tape measures, straight edges and overspray gauges to pass/fail camouflage patterns.
Conduct water break tests to assure cleanliness prior to paint and performs scribe/scratch tests to ensure proper adhesion.
Make recommendations or changes to correct conditions or deficiencies.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position may require a one-year probationary period.
- This position requires a physical upon entering the position and annually.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painting/Finish Inspector without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common sampling inspections to ensure that surfaces meet the prescribed standards, specifications and other established criteria. I assure that items are properly cleaned and prepared for painting. Use thickness gage to determine if paint is within specified tolerances and conduct water break tests to assure cleanliness prior to paint and performs scribe/scratch tests to ensure proper adhesion.

Physical Effort: Work requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring/uncomfortable positions. Incumbent frequently lifts, carries, and sets up equipment that weighs up to 10 pounds. Occasionally, may handle materials/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Incumbent is also exposed to vapor and paint fumes.
Working Conditions: The work is performed inside or outside of buildings where dirt, spray, and fumes are present. May be required to wear protective equipment and clothing (e.g., rubber boots, coveralls, goggles, aprons, gloves, respirator, etc.) that are uncomfortable. Frequently exposed to cuts and bruises. There is a possibility of exposure to hazardous materials/waste.
