This position is part of the Office of Management, Department of Energy. As a Facility Operations Specialist, you will be supporting planning and coordinating the facility operation and maintenance of the Department of Energy's buildings and grounds.
Duties
As a Facility Operations Specialist you will:
Keeps supervisor fully informed on status of all facility maintenance and operation projects.
Inspects buildings and grounds for the purpose of ensuring safe and orderly conditions, evaluates the adherence to established standards of operations and services, determines deficiencies, and initiates corrective actions.
Analyzes operations, maintenance, and repair of plant facilities and buildings involving assigned functional areas and initiates actions to resolve policy and operational complex problems.
Negotiates and monitors schedules, work in progress, inspection and review of contractors' performance relating to buildings and facilities operations.
Liaisons with the Procurement and Contracts staff for technical matters pertaining to the facility operation contracts; ensuring deliverables are according to specifications.
Performs Quality Assurance Inspections of some aspects of a large multi million dollar per annum facilities management contract that includes operation and maintenance of building systems.
Requirements

- This position does not support 100% remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 2 days per pay period.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing thereafter. Failure to test or a positive result on random drug tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- This position is included in a Bargaining Unit.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Acquisition Certification for Contracting Officer’s Representatives (FAC-COR) Level I certification.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following:
Manage a facility maintenance program for an office or building complex
Gather and analyz data to prepare progress reports relating to bulding management operations or general facility services.
Assisting in monitoring contractor performance at facilities to ensure work performance is in compliance with documented plans.
