This is a non-supervisory, bargaining unit position.
Duties
This position is located in and reports to the Head of Patron Engagement Section, in the Patron and Network Division of the National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Print Disabled, Library Services and Collections Group (LCSG), Library of Congress (LOC). The Braille Program Specialist serves as an expert on matters pertaining to braille policies and procedures. Plans and implements Internal programs and field operations for all of the divisions of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) including the Office of the Director.
Qualifications
Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.
Ability to interact collaboratively, providing consultation and liaison services.**
Knowledge of braille and systems that create braille reading materials.**
Ability to provide program advice and guidance.**
Knowledge of the subject area of braille.**
Ability to perform braille program/project planning and management work.
Ability to utilize applicable information technology.
Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
