This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as an Operations and Research Analyst and staff advisor for the Headquarters Department of Army (HQDA) G-3/5/7 Training Directorate (DAMO-TR), supporting the Regionally Aligned Readiness and Modernization Model (ReARMM) Division (DAMO-TRR).
Duties
Collect and process data for evaluating findings.
Ensure analytical projects fully support end user requirements.
Direct ad hoc projects that provide intensive systematic exploration of problems.
Manage analysis conducted for the Deputy Chief of Staff.
Quantify risk or uncertainty to help in decision making trade space.
Capture authoritative data on key operations and business processes.
Determine the relative worth of competing alternatives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- DRUG TESTING: This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Basic Requirement for an Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing analytical tools used to improve data driven decisions; recommending priority actions to senior leaders; and evaluating effectiveness of a project to determine the worth of competing methodologies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
