About the Position: This position is located with the Army Sustainment Command, Office of Communications and Engagement, Rock Island Arsenal, IL.

Duties

Formulate policy and plans pertaining to the direction and execution of Command Public Affairs and Congressional Programs. Conduct analysis of attitudes and opinions of the public and elected officials toward the Command or its programs. Assign work to subordinates, setting priorities and considering requirements of assignments and capabilities of employees. Respond to information requests from the media, key officials or public pertaining to the Command program in written and oral forms often requiring detailed explanation of negative comments. Deploy to the scene of incidents and accidents involving Army Sustainment Command (ASC) operations and facilities to provide on-site public affairs support.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3 Secret Security Clearance.
  • Temporary duty travel of 25% may be required.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communication CounselManaging Human ResourcesMessage DeliveryPublic Affairs Policies and Procedures Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
