About the Position:
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Formulates command policy and plans pertaining to the direction and execution of the command's Public Affairs program.
Advises the command on the status, programs, and impact on Public Affairs policies and plans.
Conducts analysis of attitude, command surveys and opinions of the public towards the Command and its programs.
Directs and coordinates the Installation's community relations program.
Analyzes public affairs information needs in terms of the public and organizational needs to be met and provides advice on program information problems.
Responds to information requests from the media, key officials, and the public on installation's programs in written and oral forms.
Advises on choice, timing, and relative importance of information for dissemination to the workforce, installation tenants, and the general public using both general and specialized media.
Represents the Garrison Command at hearings and meetings with responsibility for delivering speeches and Command statements.
Coordinates, develops and executes installation crisis communication plans.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of the media, representatives of government, Congressional offices, civic organizations, other agencies, and special interest groups.
Requirements

- Will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Planning/organizing the command's public affairs program to disseminate program information through news media; responding to key leaders or the public on a variety of public affairs issues; Reviewing Command and Department of Defense policy guidance/directives to convey issues to leadership; developing and implementing Command strategic/operational communication plans that integrate/support the Command's strategic mission, vision, and goals.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
