About the Position: This Position is located at Womack Army Medical Center Logistics Division Equipment Maintenance Branch Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Fort Liberty is co-located with Fayetteville North Carolina.
Duties
Inspect new patient care equipment (PCE) to determine whether equipment is safe and operating within manufacturer's specifications.
Evaluate and install sophisticated/complex medical equipment and/or systems to include standalone equipment and/or components.
Diagnose problems with the quality of images and signals as required based on the equipment, and network.
Ensure that cabling such as fiber optics, cat 5, Ethernets, etc., and hardware such as switches, hubs and converters are in place and are functioning.
Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance.
Evaluate integrated/networked systems and related electronics and automation/networking required to integrate equipment into its respective Environment.
Determine schedule of preventive maintenance and formulates methods and techniques to perform all maintenance.
Trouble-shoot systems to determine nature and extent of repairs required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a valid civilian/military driver's license in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- A favorable National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) may be required for this position.
- Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of physical exam. and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Irregular tour of duties.
- This position may require 10% TDY.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing maintenance of medical electronic equipment/systems to assure operational integrity and safety according to manufacturer's specifications on instrumentation and medical equipment; trouble-shooting systems to determine nature and extent of repairs required; providing assistance and in service training; setting-up and /or calibration of patient care equipment.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as electronics, biomedical engineer, or biomedical equipment technician. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 36. Add the two percentages.
