The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Armaments Center (AC) serves as the Army's technology leader for armament systems. DEVCOM AC ensures dominance of Army capabilities by researching, developing, integrating and delivering technology-enabled armament solutions to our Warfighters. Armaments Center has a long tradition as the primary research and development center for new and existing armament systems which are in use by U.S. service members around the world.
Duties
Plan design and development projects from the establishment of the project through the preparation and use of the production design.
Analyze project requirements as they apply to the project.
Provide technical guidance over contracts on assigned weapon projects. Evaluates progress and adequacy on all aspects of contractual effort.
Attend meetings and conferences to obtains and exchange information.
Assist in the development of modeling and simulation framework(s) to support weapon system analyses.
These duties are described at the full performance pay band DB-03. The duties at the DB-02 pay band are developmental leading to such performance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position.
- Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management Practitioner Certification within 60 months of entrance on duty.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the DB-03 (GS-12/13) pay band, applicants must meet the basic education requirement AND must meet the specialized experience listed below (must be supported in your resume): (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your college transcripts).
Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
Basic Requirement for Mathematician:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics; or a degree with the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics. The total course work must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The total course work must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
Basic Requirement for Mathematical Statistician:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: At least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.Courses acceptable toward meeting the mathematics course requirement of paragraphs A or B above must have included at least four of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite.The experience offered in combination with educational courses to meet the requirements in paragraph B above should include evidence of statistical work such as (a) sampling; (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying known statistical techniques to data such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
Basic Requirement for Computer Scientist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Performing scientific and technical investigations and analyses throughout all phases of the product life cycle; (2) Assisting in the preparation, coordination and execution of project proposals; AND (3) Assisting with the development and product improvement programs including program plans, costs, facilities, and schedules. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DB-02 (GS-05-GS-11 grade level).
Education
