About the Position: THIS POSITION IS WITH THE JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL'S LEGAL CENTER AND SCHOOL (TJAGLCS)- OFFICE OF THE DEAN -MILITARY PUBLICATIONS DEPT LOCATED IN CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA.

Duties

Draft and edit stories, law review and legal interest articles. Utilize the Blue book, A Uniform System of Citation and the Chicago Manual of Style. Review and compose final copies (print, web, or social media suitable to publish). Assist with layout, design, and headlines. Assist in preparing correspondence, briefings and other related documents. Provide input to the academic curriculum as it pertains to those duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; Preparing publications for electronic and/or print publication; coordinating with designers on layout and/or design of all publications to ensure accuracy; assisting in the editing of various legal documents for publication such as; articles, manuscripts, and/ or scholarly papers; and providing detailed reviews of submitted publications for editorial compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position and must have included a total of 15 semester hours in an appropriate scientific, technical, or social science field(s), and at least one course above the introductory level in the field(s) covered by the position. For technical manuals and specifications writers or editors, the equivalent of 15 semester hours may have been gained through vocational or educational training above the high school level at a public, private, or Armed Forces school. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
