You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIRE PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the FIRE DEPARTMENT of COMNAVREGSW SDIEGO.
Duties
You will serve as a program manager of multiple fire and emergency service programs.
You will interpret agency fire regulations for fire prevention and fire suppression.
You will maintain awareness of changes in federal, state, or local fire service ordinances and laws to convey information to junior employees.
You will brief senior leaders or other employees on maters on firefighting actives, personnel, and equipment.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.
- Overtime, Shift, Weekend, Holiday, and/or Rotating Shifts may be required.
- The incumbent will work a 56 hour work schedule.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Advising the command and senior leadership on fire protection and related emergency response activities; 2) Explaining the principles and theories of fire investigation to determine the cause of fire and recommend corrective actions; 3) Developing and implementing the hazardous materials (HAZMAT) program; 4) Assisting the Regional Fire Chief in determining long and short range requirements for resources (i.e. manpower, equipment, facilities, contract services, and staff support) to meet customer needs. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-12: Firefighter I,II, Fire Officer I,II,III, Fire Instructor I,II, Fire Inspector I,II,III, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Incident Commander, HAZMAT OPS, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work may involve walking, climbing, and bending associated with on-site inspections. Must also be able to operate a motor vehicle. Work requires alertness, self-control, and emotional stability in order to lead and direct personnel under conditions of extreme stress.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work performed in a mixture of office related work and field inspection work. Inspections may include exposure to stressful and hazardous working conditions. For example, stressful and dangerous conditions found in a fire/emergency situation. Frequent travel may be required.
