About the Position: This position is located at Andrews AFB, Maryland.

Duties
Performs medical records, administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical facility.
Initiates, locates, annotates, updates, and files patient medical records to include inserting additional forms and charts, filing results of treatments, filing results of laboratory tests, x-rays, and other procedures.
Organizes patient records to research records, extract medical information, and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with medical facility requirements.
Receives and directs telephone calls, messages, and patients/visitors. Receives and relays and/or answers incoming and outgoing telephone, intercom, and electronic messages.
Answers questions such as those dealing with the availability of medical appointments, procedures for obtaining an appointment, and requests for appointments or appointment changes for the medical facility.
Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services. Interviews patients who request medical examination/treatment to obtain pertinent information.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: Six months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as, answering calls such as those dealing with the availability of medical appointments, procedures for obtaining an appointment, or requests for appointments or appointment changes for the medical facility.
OR
Education: One year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
