Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Accountability, Analysis Integration Division, will allow you to utilize your expertise in providing analytics expertise to program offices and offices across CBP. This position starts at a salary of $103,409.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $134,435.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this Program Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in planning, developing, monitoring, and coordinating data analytics projects relating to high visibility cross-component issues to resolve critical policy, and resourcing issues; analyzing agency administrative mission-orientated programs; and recommending and applying new hypotheses and concepts to improve effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Typical Work assignments include: Applying data management and analysis techniques to study, gather, interpret, develop and report on CBP operational, policy, and resource data. Developing forecasting and cost-benefit models for budget planning purposes. Conducting analytics projects, which include preparing requirements and developing new or modifying existing processes. Providing technical advice to agency management officials and develops plans for agency programs, operations, objective, policies and procedures. Implementing and coordinating development of dashboards such as Resource Performance Tool (RPT) within the Analysis Integration Division (AID) for use throughout CBP.

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Developing and maintaining financial and performance dashboards to ensure compliance with agency mission. Analyzing and providing recommendations on key business measures, and related return on investment measures. Developing and delivering briefings, project papers status/staff reports, and correspondence. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 07/08/2024. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
