You will serve as a Firefighter in the Fire and Emergency Services of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.
Duties
You will perform all day-to-day emergency and non-emergency tasks, duties and responsibilities as required.
You will perform engine company inspections, and building pre-plans, looking for infractions and the locations of local alarm and sprinkler systems, power, water, and gas shutoffs, noting all hazardous storage or conditions inside and outside.
You will perform station, grounds, apparatus, and equipment maintenance.
You will carry out evacuation drills, reset sprinkler and local alarm systems.
You will participate in public education activities.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- GS-5 Level: Must have Firefighter I, HAZMAT Awareness and HAZMAT Operations certificates at time of application. GS-4 Level: Must obtain all certifications for Firefighter I, HazMat Operations, HazMat Awareness within 12 mos from date of entry.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current government driver's license within 120 days of hire.
- Must obtain Inland County Emergency Medical Agency (ICEMA) certification within 60 days of hire.
Qualifications
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serving as a Firefighter responding to fires and fire related emergencies involving structures, aircraft, motor vehicles, wild land, and hazardous materials, AND administering emergency care.
GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with tasks as part of an emergency response team responding to fires or fire related emergencies involving structures, aircraft, motor vehicles, wild land, and/or hazardous materials.

Education

The following education may be substituted for specialized experience as listed in Qualifications section:
GS-05: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with major study in Fire Science, Fire Training, or related fields of study; Or, a combination of specialized experience and the above-stated education.
GS-04: Successful completion of a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study; Or, a combination of specialized experience and the above-stated education.
