The Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) is a bureau within the United States Department of the Interior. OSMRE is responsible for establishing a nationwide program to protect society and the environment from the adverse effects of surface coal mining operations, under which OSMRE is charged with balancing the nation's need for continued domestic coal production with protection of the environment.

Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior (DOI), Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), Technology Managment Division. Which includes the Technical Innovation and Professional Services Branch (TIPS), and Geospatial Information Services Branch (GISB), in Lakewood, Colorado.. At the full performance level (GS-15) the major duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Plans, schedules and evaluates geospatial and technical training work to be accomplished by subordinates, including setting priorities of the work. Manages the safety, training, performance standards, EEO and disciplinary actions of employees. Plans, organizes and oversees geospatial and technical training projects related to the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of geospatial and technical training program related objectives. Manages short- and long-range planning activities, including strategic plan, workforce plan, technical training schedule, budget, internal controls and reporting. Plays a key role in development and implementation of new geospatial program and technical training policies, processes, guidelines, systems, and performance metrics. Salary Range Information: GS-15: $159,806 (Step 1) - $191,900 (Step 10) per annum. First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position you must meet the Education or Specialized Experience for the grade to which you are applying. Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-15, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Consulting and collaborating with key officials to develop and implement immediate and long-range organizational plans, processes, goals, and programs; Analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, practices, policies, or regulations, and identifying matters requiring corrective action; Exercising managerial duties and functions such as assigning and reviewing work, writing and implementing performance standards, managing employee issues and ensuring a diverse workforce; Developing or implementing geospatial programs policies, processes, guidelines, systems, and/or performance metrics; and Developing or implementing technical training programs, policies, processes, guidelines, systems, and/or performance metrics. MUST MEET ALL Drivers License Requirement: Please note: You may be required to operate a vehicle, to complete assigned tasks i.e. site visits, field research, etc.; therefore you must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
