You will serve as a Public Affairs Specialist in the Force Public Affairs Office, Code N01P, of COMNAVSURFLANT.
Duties
You will lead and manage a robust public affairs program with responsibility for strategy, planning, executing and evaluating the most difficult and complex local, national, and international media relations programs and strategies.
You will act as the Force Public affairs Officer during the absence of the PAO.
You will serve as a public affairs planning representative or briefer in meetings and conferences as required.
You will manage the central development, planning, integration, and coordination of comprehensive operations and plans that support and facilitate the achievement of SURFLANT and N01P mission goals and objectives.
You will manage the resources, departmental budgeting and lead the support staff assigned to the Public Affairs Office.
You will establish and maintain direct contact with officials of area city governments and chamber of commerce officials in support of various on-going and planned public affairs projects.
You will be responsible for after action reports or coordinating with the event authorities to capture after action reports/lessons learned following events.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience, knowledge and skill planning community and internal audience relation activities for SURFLANT, subordinate commands and their surrounding communities.
Experience, knowledge and skill of community relations, marketing and journalism, including media requirements and practices sufficient for developing a wide variety of informational material that increase communication with the commands various populaces.
Experience, knowledge and skill in making oral presentations.
Experience, knowledge and skill in leading the support staff of civilians and military employees, as well as other officer/enlisted Active Duty and Reserve personnel temporarily assigned.
Experience monitoring and reviewing the quality and process of work performed by assigned subordinate personnel, setting all expectation, and scheduling.
Experience and skills on executive level to plan, organize, and effectively direct the work of others.
Experience and skill in developing and/or interpreting policy and providing staff level advisory program guidance.
