About the Position: This position is located within the Army Materiel Command (AMC) Headquarters (HQ) G-1 division. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Human Resources (HR) Specialist by performing work that involves advising management officials on staffing, classification, awards, benefits, and program initiatives.

Duties

Provides management advisory assistance, problem resolution and technical guidance on Federal Civilian Personnel matters to Headquarters, Army Materiel Command Staff managers and personnel. Researches and interprets Civilian Personnel regulations, policies and procedures to advise and assist management in accomplishing their personnel management responsibilities and to develop new methods /criteria and/or propose policies and practices. Participates in meetings, conferences and work groups within and outside the Command to analyze and resolve common Civilian Personnel problems. Carries out special projects and various studies in assigned program areas to evaluate Civilian Personnel operations. Writes to convey information in a clear, concise, organized, and convincing manner for the intended audience, using correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing Civilian personnel management advisory assistance, problem resolution and technical guidance to leadership, managers and other personnel staff in various HR functions, eg., recruitment, classification, benefits, awards, etc.; 2) Assists in developing new or revising current Civilian Personnel policies, procedures, program initiatives; 3) Researches and interprets regulations, policies and procedures and provide assistance to managers in accomplishing their personnel management responsibilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPersonnel and Human ResourcesStaffing and RecruitmentStrategic ThinkingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
