Duties

Serves as a Customer Support Representatives (CSR) and provides logistical assistance/technical expertise to U.S. military activities and U.S. civil agencies receiving logistical support and services from DLA. Act as the point of contact for the customer's concerns and issues; Interfaces with appropriate supply chain owners and logistics service providers across DLA to resolve these concerns and issues. Resolves high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with DLA activities. Monitors metrics and works with customer-facing leads to ensure progress is on track and consistent with the customer's portion of the Service Level Agreements and Secondary Service Level Agreements. Determines the effectiveness of agency logistics support, including service and supply programs, discussing, reviewing, and making detailed analysis of internal procedures and support. Determines underlying causes of deficiencies to identify logistics problem areas, isolates sources of problems, and takes corrective measures by reviewing interpretation and application of agency and customer processes. Coordinates directly with top-level Department of Defense military and civilian personnel of major commands, installations, and activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Logistics Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Expert knowledge of the full range of logistics support, planning and scheduling, including supply, disposal and reutilization, hazmat handling, distribution, transportation, storage, logistics information, order fulfillment, discrepancy reporting and returns process, procurement, contracting, production, finance, requirements determination and other collaborative demand planning, provisioning cataloging and logistics data and information in order to provide logistical assistance to and negotiate service agreements with customer by customer segment and component need. Thorough knowledge of agency capabilities as they are being transformed under Business Systems Modernization and Customer Relationship Management in order to indoctrinate military segment commanders/leadership on the role the agency plays in maintaining operational readiness and sustainability to customer missions. Knowledge of DoD supply chain, logistics management systems and the service systems required in order to act as the agency focal point on logistical matters and problems posed by the customer. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands Assignments regularly involve long periods of standing, bending, and stooping to observe and study work operations in an industrial, storage, or comparable work area. Frequent travel, including travel for extended periods, may be required. Work Environment Assignments regularly require visits to manufacturing, storage, or other industrial areas, and involve moderate risks or discomforts. Protective clothing and gear and observance of safety precautions are required.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
