About the Position: Performs as an action officer for the U.S. Army North, the Army Service Component Command which conducts Unified Land Operations in support of U.S. Northern Command, in order to detect, deter and defeat threats to the Homeland, conduct support of civil authorities, and security cooperation initiatives to defend the United States and its interests.

Duties

Responsible for supporting overarching programs assigned, to include risk management, planning, training, exercises, resourcing, and program monitoring/maintenance. Synchronizes mission assurance through an integrated risk management methodology across U.S. Army North missions, policies, plans, and programs mitigating mission execution risk. Ensures that DoD is able to execute missions by preventing or mitigating the loss or degradation of DoD owned infrastructure within the U.S. Army North area of responsibility (AOR). Implements processes to identify, prioritize, assess, and manage risks, and participates in the mission assurance coordination board (MACB) structure, and identifies strategic risks that endanger execution of mission essential functions (MEFs). Publishes and updates command policies to synchronize and integrate DoD security, protection, and risk management programs and activities with the mission assurance construct. Maintains and reviews mission assurance related security, protection, and risk management data, and provides that data to U.S. Army North components. Implements the mission assurance process to identify, assess, manage, and monitor the risk to mission, systems, and assets that support mission execution.

Requirements

  • Will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours).
  • Incumbent will be expected to function in adverse climatic conditions and under intense physical and mental stress.
  • Must be capable, upon completion of training, of unassisted donning of mission oriented protective posture (MOPP)
  • Must be able to wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) or clothing such as boots, goggles, gloves, chemical mask and other safety equipment as required.
  • Participation in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
  • Employee may be required to maintain a working telephone at all times.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to travel overnight away from home station up to 25% of the time.
  • Overtime work may be required on short notice. Incumbent may be required to temporarily work extended and irregular tours of duty to include days, nights, shifts and weekends.
  • A probationary period maybe required.
  • A TOP Secret security Clearance is required.
  • This is a Drug tested position.
  • An initial pre-employment physical is required of the position.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Risk ManagementSecurityVulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
