About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at Fort Sam Houston with US ARMY SOUTH G2. Fort Sam Houston is in San Antonio, TX .

Duties

Serves as the Security Manager, Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Intelligence Directorate, for US ArmySouth, the Army Service Component Command (ASCC) of US Southern Command. Reviews and maintains existing security programs to ensure relevancy, currency and thoroughness in meeting existing or evolving security missions and requirements. Plans, develops and implements programs to accomplish security mission goals and requirements where required. Applies contemporary security philosophy, techniques and regulatory requirements to resolve routine to complex security and procedural problems Performs a full range of moderately difficult to complex functional security duties and assignments, including information, automation, personnel, and Operations Security (OPSEC). Manages, directs, plans and coordinates both technical and administrative functions of the Security section.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBIwith eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required 25% or less of the time.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacatedduring a national emergency or mobilization, see additional info below.

Specialized experience is defined as experience with the management of intelligence-related security programs to include two or more of the following: Information Security (INFOSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Personnel Security (PERSEC), and Operations Security (OPSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Personnel SecuritySecurity Program ManagementTechnical Competence Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
