THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D2176P01 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard.
Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Network), GS-2210-12, you will serve as the Operations Section supervisor and a senior Information Technology (IT) specialist. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of supervisory functions providing administrative control and technical direction and oversight for subordinate personnel within the Section. Responsible for analyzing customer requirements and managing the systems administration, optimization, operational requirements and maintenance associated with the various local area/wide area networks (LAN/WAN), wireless systems, and voice systems utilized by both Wing and tenant organizations on the base. Manages customer IT requirements to meet operational, training, and readiness missions. Ensures viable training programs are developed for assigned functions. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- KANSAS NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives
- Conducts travel to and from offsite worksite(s) from the normal work area to perform assigned duties.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate Top Secret security clearance of the position.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

- THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF APPOINTMENT.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11(or equivalent).

Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends appointment, promotion, or reassignment to such positions. Provides technical expertise and management oversight, in the installation, administration, optimization, and operation of multiple large and enhanced complex networks and communication systems. Establishes project plans and priorities and coordinates with appropriate personnel to carry out the plans. Provides guidance to subordinates on the development of complex project plan tasks and timeliness. Provides detailed information regarding all technical aspects of equipment, software, and systems. Develops and applies project management techniques to the obtainment of new systems and enhancements to existing systems projects.
**Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification SECURITY + within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
