THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/CUSTSPT), Position Description Number D2174P01 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, National Guard.
Duties
As a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK), GS-2210-12, you will perform a full range of supervisory functions providing administrative control and technical direction and oversight for subordinate personnel within the Section. Responsible for analyzing customer requirements and managing the systems administration, optimization, operational requirements and maintenance associated with the various local area/wide area networks (LAN/WAN), wireless systems, and voice systems utilized by both Wing and tenant organizations on the base. Manages customer IT requirements to meet operational, training, and readiness missions. Ensures viable training programs are developed for assigned functions. Perform other duties as assigned. This position is located in the Operations Section of a Base Communications Unit.
Requirements
- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance within one year of appointment.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
- THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION.

- Must be certified IAW DOD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996 and current AF directives.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11). Specialized experience includes: Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of incumbents. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to incumbents on both work and administrative matters. Provides technical expertise and management oversight, in the installation, administration, optimization, and operation of multiple large and enhanced complex networks and communication systems. Independently oversees installation, configuration, testing, migration, integration, and operation within the network operating environment, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and minimal service disruptions, and advises customer support specialists, by providing post-implementation support to end-users. Establishes project plans and priorities and coordinates with appropriate personnel to carry out the plans. Provides guidance to subordinates on the development of complex project plan tasks and timeliness. Provides detailed information regarding all technical aspects of equipment, software, and systems.
"Information Assurance Certification" is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position."
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work is sedentary. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in a typical office setting. Special safety precautions are not required.
