THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC), Position Description Number D1748000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, McConnell AFB, Kansas Air National Guard.
Duties
As a SUPV IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC) GS-2210-12, you will help protect the nation's war-fighter's information, information systems and computer networks. The purpose of this position is to serve as Computer Network Operations (CNO) Team Chief, supervising a team of specialists ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems, networks, and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools. Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and operations of planned and installed information systems and ensuring all protection needs are met. Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of a CNO Team, ensuring the team complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates. Sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules. Assigns work to subordinate employees based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments such that the experience, training, and abilities of the team are effectively utilized to meet organization and customer needs. Meets with key customer and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management. Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

- THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF APPOINTMENT.

Military Grades: E7 through E8
Compatible Military Assignments: Eligible to obtain a 1D791
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
For Supervisory Positions, add the following Specialized Experience: Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
"Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position."
