Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Collaborating on strategic communications activities with SAMHSA program staff and Office of Communications (OC) staff; providing substance abuse and mental health communications expertise and support to the related communications activities of other federal, state, and non-governmental agencies. Providing strategic direction for and oversight of the agency's online (digital/new media) presence and public/stakeholder engagement activities; health reform communications; internal communications and administrative operations. Managing day-to-day operations and activities as well as staff and approved resources. Providing technical guidance/leadership and administrative supervision and direction to professional and support staff to achieve the objectives of OC.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing at least three (3)of the following: Experience developing communication plans and strategies. Coordinating and providing authoritative advice and guidance on public affairs policies. Developing, editing, and/or handling the publication of print/digital media. Providing leadership to a team responsible for public affairs activities such as leading a team or managing contractors. Documenting experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. WE WILL NOT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS REGARDING YOUR EXPERIENCE. Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
