About the Position: Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces.
Position will be filled on a permanent intermittent basis.
Duties
As a Test Administrator, you will:
Administer written and computer based Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Enlistment Test sessions to determine individual qualifications for military service.
Administer written and computer based student test sessions at education institutions
Maintain the accountability/security of testing materials.
Review documentation/paperwork for compliance with operating procedures/regulations.
Determine number of proctors needed to monitor the tests based on number of applicants being tested.
Determine facilities to accommodate the number of applicants being tested.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has been designated as non-sensitive and requires a personnel security background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state issued or US territory issued driver's license.
- This position requires the incumbent to be able to lift boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
- This position requires 100% business travel within a 200 mile round trip radius of the duty location. You will be reimbursed for mileage.
- This position requires the incumbent to use their own reliable, privately-owned vehicle for travel to/from your duty locations.
- This is an intermittent position that consists of work performed on an irregular basis with no preset tour of duty or definite hours (i.e. not regular part-time nor full-time. Incumbent is scheduled as needed). Pay depends on actual hours worked.
- Health and life insurance benefits are not available (except in certain situations).
- Annual and sick leave are not earned.
- Intermittent positions do not lead to part-time or full-time employment.
- This position may require early morning travel and extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting. Some work may need to be performed from your own residence prior to arriving at the test site.
- You MUST reside within the local commuting area of your assigned duty location. You MUST be able to cover your assigned duty location and up to a 100 mile radius (200 miles round trip) of that location.
- Incumbent may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as: 1) Providing customer service to a variety of individuals; 2) Utilizing a variety of office automation resources to complete tasks; and 3) Properly maintains work materials. This is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level (GS-3) or equivalent.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:
Education Substitution for General Experience for GS-04: You may substitute general experience with two (2) full academic years of undergraduate education above the high school level from an accredited college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts in your application package.)
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for General Experience for GS-04: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate education by 60; or your quarter hours of education by 90; or your business, secretarial or technical school total weeks by 72. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts in your application package).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-03).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
