The position is a Computer Scientist within ATO Technical Operations, Operations Support, National Airway Systems Engineering (NASE) Group providing second-level engineering support for assigned surveillance, weather and/or navigation systems and associated programs throughout the National Airspace System (NAS).

Duties

Performs a mixture of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team in supporting surveillance, weather and/or navigation systems by identifying problems or systems malfunctions. May perform some leadership functions for small projects/programs/teams.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications

To view the complete qualifications standard, applicants should reference- U.S. Office of Personnel Management Group Coverage Qualification Standard for the computer Science, 1550, Series:https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/1500/computer-science-series-1550/Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.In addition to meeting the basic qualifications listed above, to qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G FG/GS-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Experience includes:Specialized Experience is: Experience supporting the development of hardware and/or software modifications to correct problems with communication systems, performing basic testing and inspection of products, and analyzing technical maintenance documentation for communications systems.Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.Qualifications must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.Some, all, or none of the applicants may be interviewed.Selection may be made from this announcement or from ACT-ATO-24-AJW1631-91057.
