Job opening: Protocol Specialist

Salary: $40 562 - 96 666 per year

About the Position: This position is with the U.S Army Space and Missile Defense Command and will be coordinating all protocol matters involving military and civilian visitors. Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 Months and may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. Current permanent Army employees, see Announcement SWEI240499974888. Duties

Coordinate all protocol activities, to include all VIP visits to official social functions hosted by the senior leaders or their designated representatives. Assures protocol responsibilities are met with accuracy and adequacy in day -to-day operations. Contacts local community resources and individuals to coordinate requirements for special visits. Organizes the execution of protocol support services and activities for official functions and events (e.g. retirements, promotions, changes of command, banquets, balls, etc.). Plans work assignments to assure an even flow and distribution of work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position may require occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel in support of mission.
  • This position may require work during irregular hours to include nights, weekends and holidays.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: Three years progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the NH-01/GS-04 grade level, which includes Assisting with preparing for protocol procedures associated with distinguished military and Federal civilian guests; Reviewing documents such as programs, seating charts, or scripts for errors; Prioritizing multiple projects and/or events simultaneously to ensure timely completion; AND Assisting with coordinating events, ceremonies and visits with distinguished guests.This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-01/GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 36. Then divide your total number of completed undergraduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 120. Add the two percentages.
