About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.
Duties
Serve as Supervisory Operations Officer (Chief of Operations Branch) for Fort Cavazos United States Army Garrison (USAG), Directorate Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS).
Provide guidance to agency staff offices in response to urgent and routine requests for information and recommendations on issues of operations, current events strategy and plans.
Serve as the Manager of the Installation Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The Installation Emergency Operations Center is a facility which operates on a 24 hour, 7 days a week basis when activated.
Utilize senior emergency operations center specialists exercising limited leader/supervisory responsibilities in directing and coordinating shift work operations.
Support special management programs, such as affirmative action, equal employment, and health and safety programs.
Review and analyze incoming staff actions and decision correspondence.
Provide integration of staff actions to facilitate effective management of subordinate elements.
Carries out high priority assignments, studies, and projects personally assigned by the Garrison Commander on a wide variety of sensitive and confidential matters.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- This is an inclement weather essential position: incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
