This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Deputy Commandant for Operations (CG-DCO), Assistant Commandant for Prevention Policy- (CG-5P), Office of Investigation and Casualty Analysis- (INV), Data Admin &Freedom of Information, FOIA Division (INV-3), Washington DC.
Duties
The incumbent serves as the database administrator for several systems including Marine Information for Safety and Law Enforcement (MISLE), Marine Safety Manual System (MSMS), Coast Guard Information System (CGINFO), historical database (Marine Safety Information System (MSIS), PIRS etc.) and associated software.

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-13 level, applicants should have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal, State, or local government or equivalent public or private sector experience. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to the line of work.
Specialized experience includes the following:
Applicant MUST meet ALL 4 conditions.
Utilizing SQL or Python or JAVA (or equivalent programming languages) to manage analytical data and metadata; AND
Handling complex queries; AND
Providing technical business requirements, data architectures, and data onboarding and validation to facilitate delivery of identified data needs; AND
Providing expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations on databases and relational database management technology.
Quality Factor: Knowledge of policies and procedures to manage Government information; and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests is preferred but not required.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement, you must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted at this grade level.
