You will serve as a General Engineer within NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will manage workload from multiple stakeholders. You will manage budgets with funding from multiple funding sources. You will develop and review specifications, drawings, and technical documents.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NM-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as S&T (Science and Technology) Portfolio Manager or S&T Transition Lead supporting Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) or Support Equipment (SE). 2) Acting as Principal Investigator advancing state-of-the-art technologies for insertion into SE and ALRE systems. 3) Supporting the S&T Flight Planning process to identify technical gaps and obtain appropriate customer sponsorship to lead annual IPT S&T Interview sessions. 3) Maintaining active participation in industry and academic research knowledge exchanges, including conferences, technology meetings and working groups. 4) Resolving risky, out of the ordinary, difficult and controversial equipment and operational problems where guidance is lacking and minimal information is available. 5) Serving as a technical expert in electrical or mechanical fields appropriate to S&T maturation of assigned Support Equipment /ALRE systems and department core technologies. Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

For 0801 series: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. OR
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)
OR
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
