The incumbent serves as a Health Administration Service (HAS) Supervisor located in the Enrollment Unit within the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS). The incumbent will primarily be located at the VASNHS Medical Center but may be assigned to different work areas based on need. Incumbent has sound knowledge of inpatient and outpatient services.
Duties
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Coordinates the resolution of medical-legal problems concerning the medical center.
Provides administrative authority, guidance, and advice to Medical Officer of the Day (HOD) and all other clinical staff concerning administrative matters necessary for operation of the medical center during other than normal tours.
Directly intervenes when problem regarding patient activity occurs, advising clinical staff of appropriate administrative action.
Handles all requests for emergency annual and sick leave for Business Service personnel on assigned tour
Coordinates patient referrals and transfers to and from the medical center.

Provides written and oral reporting of incidents involving beneficiaries, employees, as well as safety or other issues.
Enforces Medical Center policy that only authorized personnel are allowed into certain areas after regular duty hours.
Responsible for calling in all necessary employees on an overtime basis to attend to patient care needs or for emergency repairs, etc., including calling in physicians as requested by the HOD. Secures resources or services needed to manage the medical center.

Qualifications
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-9 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-7. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-9. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-9 Level Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: would typically include but limited to: experience involved in applying specific rules, regulations, or procedures to issues that affect the overall accuracy, quality and timeliness of the final work produced by the staff. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related if related that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 2-years of graduate/Masters level education.
