The Information Technology Specialist position is located in the Department of Program Services (DPS), Case Management Systems Office (CMSO),Federal Judiciary Digital Services Division (FJDSD). The CMSO develops and maintains case management and related systems for federal appellate, district, and bankruptcy court judges and staff, probation and pretrial services officers, federal defenders, and external stakeholders.
Duties
The Information Technology Specialist Solutions Architect position will report to the Enterprise Solutions Architect in the Federal Judiciary Digital Services Division and provide architectural support for all assigned Division applications. The Solutions Architect supports CMSO by providing leadership and architectural direction to the Federal Judiciary Digital Services (FJDS) Division's portfolio of products supported within the office. This position will focus on the required architecture and technical roadmap to help the division's suite of products. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for establishing and implementing the architectural standards, policies, and procedures for all the division's applications and will work with other architects and stakeholders across the AO footprint.
This position is also responsible for researching new technologies, products, and standards incorporated into the FJDS suite of applications. The current technical environment includes Informix, Microsoft SQL, .Net, Angular, Java, Perl, cloud infrastructure, and mobile and web technologies. This is a hands-on position and may require interactions with courts, court support teams, development and internal teams, and administrative staff from both a technical and business perspective.
The duties of the position may include, but are not limited to:
Working with other enterprise, cloud, data, and solution architects in the implementation of a new cloud-based enterprise compute platform for a critical system at the Judiciary.
Developing and implementing requirements and appropriate design patterns that satisfy the needs of the various system components.
Driving innovation across the development teams by developing best practices and innovative approaches using modern cloud strategies.
Collaborating with technical and business subject matter experts to develop the appropriate implementation strategies that enable the optimal use of modern cloud tools and platforms.
Collaborating with other architects within this team and across the Judiciary to develop best practices, methods and standards needed to run a world-class cloud system.
Qualifications
Applicants must have demonstrated experience as listed below. This requirement is according to the AO Classification, Compensation, and Recruitment Systems which include interpretive guidance and reference to the OPM Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience which is in or directly related to the line of work of this position. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience in agile development methodologies and executing application architecture tasks within an open-source framework and in cloud services with experience in at least one cloud provider, proficiently defining and enforcing established architectural frameworks and best practices tailored for large-scale, high-traffic web-based and mobile applications, such as Node.js, Angular, ReactJS, Python, etc.
