This position is in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Investigations branch, DCSA. The incumbent serves as an Investigator assigned to perform the administrative investigations and related functions in furtherance of OIG's established mission to provide the Director, DCSA, fair and independent oversight of all facets of the agency.

Duties

As a INVESTIGATOR you will be responsible for the following duties: -Conduct and lead investigations, and related activities. -Maintain organized records on inquiries and investigations, and be able to present findings in both oral and written communications. - Deal with individuals with tact in stressful situations, as well as work independently and respond positively to pressure under rapidly evolving circumstances. - Conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses, and subjects of investigations. Local Commuting Area (LCA) Definitions: Quantico, VA All U.S. Citizens who reside or currently employed in the MCB Quantico local commuting area, which includes the Virginia counties of Albemarle, Arlington, Caroline, Chesterfield, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Greene, Hanover, Henrico, King George, Loudoun, Louisa, Madison, Orange, Prince William, Spotsylvania and Stafford Counties, and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Manassas, Manassas Park, and Richmond; Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, Prince George's and Saint Mary's; District of Columbia; and all cities existing in Virginia or Maryland within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties. Fort Meade, MD All U.S. Citizens who reside or currently employed in the Fort Meade local commuting area, which includes the District of Columbia and Baltimore City; Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Prince George, Montgomery, Howard, Harford, Charles, Calvert, Carroll, Frederick and Baltimore; Adams County in Pennsylvania; Virginia counties of Arlington and Fairfax and all cities existing in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties. Boyers, PA All U.S. Citizens who reside or currently employed in the Boyers, PA local commuting area, which includes the Pennsylvania counties of Butler, Clarion, Armstrong, Allegheny, Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer, Crawford, Erie, Venango, Jefferson, Indiana, and Westmorland; Ohio counties of Columbia, Trumbull, and Mahoning; and all cities existing in Pennsylvania or Ohio within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties.

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-11 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Extensive experience with investigative procedures regarding matters affecting Administrative Inquiries, Adverse Actions, and associated procedures; conducting investigative inquiries regarding allegations of misconduct amongst personnel, to include both Federal employees and Contractors, that may include serious allegations that involve highly sensitive issues; exercises sound judgment in applying broad investigative coverage guidelines to individual cases, each of which has a unique set of circumstances, to accomplish the intended purpose within specified time and cost limits; and managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining the accuracy and thoroughness required by policies, laws, and other directives. Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding, friendliness, courtesy, tact, empathy, concern, and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively dealing with individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity, race, gender, disabilities, and other individual differences. 6. Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with ambiguity.
