This position is located on Food Systems Research Unit, Agricultural Research Services, Northeast Area, Burlington, Vermont.
In this position, you will be improving food systems in the New England states to enhance small farm sustainability, value-added Processing, and public nutrition and health.
Duties
Complete requests for personnel actions and writes and/or provides sample position descriptions.
Review write-ups for format, completeness and conformance to existing policies and procedures.
Serve as the primary administrative business process point of contact for the Unit.
Prepare travel requests and vouchers for foreign and domestic travel.
Transmit and receive documents and messages electronically.
Use a variety of graphical, spreadsheet, and database software packages.
Coordinate research documentation reporting requirements and provides oversight for the process.
Requirements
- You must be a US Citizen or US National.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.

GS-06
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience maintaining detailed records for an office environment; and using word processing programs to edit documents.
Applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
GS-07
Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-07 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-06 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience providing administrative support to an office such as time keeping, files management or maintaining an office budget; using a variety of graphical, spreadsheet, and database software for editing documents; and participating in program planning support work including project coordination, travel, budget, or procurement of supplies and equipment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
