Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing a variety of receptionist, office automation, and clerical support duties.
Typical work assignments will include the following;
Receives telephone calls and visitors to the office.
Controls access to the office and ensures that only visitors properly cleared are authorized entry.
Responds to inquiries, providing general information regarding office programs.
Receives, reviews, and distributes incoming mail.
Maintains miscellaneous numerical/alpha files so that correspondence checks can be made for unfamiliar material received.
Maintains adequate levels of office supplies and orders additional supplies from GSA, blanket purchase agreements (BPA) and maintains suspense system to ensure timely delivery of orders.
Prepares time and attendance (T&A) for assigned personnel.
Prepares travel vouchers for review and signature.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
Specialized experience:GS-05: To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level; or four years of education above the high school level; or a combination of both specialized experience and education as explained below:
Specialized Experience: is defined as experience providing a variety of clerical and administrative functions such as producing written documents utilizing office automation software; receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office; obtaining information from files or general reference sources; inputting information into databases or spreadsheets; sorting and retrieving data to produce documents and reports; preparing and/or assisting with travel requests and vouchers.
OR
Education: Successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.
OR
Combination of education and specialized experience: Successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the total experience requirements. equivalent to the GS-4 grade level. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. Education
