The Program Support Assistant (OA) will provide a full range of administrative and clerical support to the Specialty Care Integrated Clinical Community (ICC) as part of the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Act as clerical and technical representative in the patient care area.
Provide support to the professional staff (physicians, nurses, social workers, administrative officers).
Enhance customer service by demonstrating police, cooperative, and respectful behavior.
Work with others to accomplish tasks or goals.
Serve as initial contact/receptionist for customers by phone and/or in person for the Specialty Care ICC.
Triage calls for urgency and/or assimilate all information necessary for staff to respond to calls.
Perform data abstractions for special projects.
Identify and report health and safety hazards in work area.
Maintain and update databases with patient information.
Request records from other VA facilities and/or private facilities, ensuring security and accountability of paper records.
Prepare correspondence and publications to assist leadership.
Make travel arrangements for patients to arrive and return for scheduled appointments through VA travel.
Utilize a variety of computer word processing to create reports, policies, forms, pamphlets, and other administrative reports.
Perform accurate timekeeping operations for all employees of the Specialty Care ICC.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/24/2024.
You must qualify for the GS-05 grade level based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes but is not limited to: performing various administrative duties, such as timekeeping, routing calls, and making travel arrangements; utilizing various software systems to prepare reports, forms, pamphlets, and other items for publication; collecting data for quality improvement and/or special projects; and maintaining/updating databases with information such as patient information and authorizations for procedures (This experience must be well documented in your resume).

Education: You may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level, you must have completed 4 years of education above high school at an accredited business, secretarial or technical college, junior college, college, or university. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
OR,
Combination: You may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 60 semester hours (the second year) that totals 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements you meet, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed semester hours beyond the second year (EX: 75 semester hours - 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED).
** Typing Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting experience or education requirements, applicants must also be able to type 40 words per minute. Words per minute are based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
