You will serve as a REGIONAL ENGAGEMENT OPERATIONS COORDINATOR in the REGIONAL ENGAGEMENT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT, UNDER THE DEAN OF ADMISSIONS AND BUSINESS OPERATIONS, of DDHBAP ASIA PACIFIC CENTER FOR SECURITY STUDIES..

Duties

You will plan, coordinate, and execute the support logistics for the Center's senior level, government, multi-national conference events known as "Workshops." You will develop a comprehensive checklist for each workshop assigned to you along stringent timelines, ensuring all elements of logistics planning are efficiently supported. You will coordinate the invitation process to the invited nations including registration tracking, and communicating all details of the invitation. You will anticipate and handle special situations when they arise in order to minimize workshop disruptions. You will maintain and report the workshop budget and spending plan through execution ensuring all fiscal expenditures are within given Department of Defense guidelines. You will compile registration information, review and coordinate support facilities, food service, security, auditor-visual, ground transportation and ceremonial events. You will oversee arrangements with individuals and foreign embassies to ensure communications, timing, procedures, and costs are efficient and complete. You will be sensitive to the various languages, educational, and cultural differences that may be encountered when interfacing with the many individuals that will be encountered in the multi-lateral coordination of Workshops.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to travel to foreign nations for up to two week periods at a time, three to four times a year.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of qualifying experience: Planning, coordinating, and executing conferences/workshops, ensuring logistical effectiveness and fiscal soundness within stringent timelines. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
  • Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D.; OR
  • Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR
  • Successful completion of an LL.M. that is related to the position being filled: https://www.usajobs.gov/help/working-in-government/unique-hiring-paths/students/federal-occupations-by-college-major/; OR
  • Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
