About the Position: This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Department of Pathology, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Duties
Perform a variety of medical laboratory technician duties, and non-technical support services for the TAMC Point of Care Testing Program that help ensure the quality of test data and performance reliability of the automated systems.
Use data system software to generate data reports.
Perform various automated system function checks related to the TAMC Point of Care Testing Program (POCT) quality assurance oversight mission.
Train personnel on Point of Care Testing Program (POCT) equipment and documentation requirements.
Conduct necessary quality control procedures.
Use test equipment to verify function and proper transfer of data.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes verifying lab test results for proper test, validity, or critical values; monitoring patient traffic and wait times; performing various clerical duties within a laboratory, such as conducting order entry, patient registration and receiving test results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate-level education that is directly related to the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify.
