You will serve as the Voluntary Service Assistant (Center of Development and Civic Engagement) for the VA Puget Sound Medical Center located in Seattle, Washington.
Duties
You will exhibit a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and courtesy with every interpersonal interaction daily.
You will show a general understanding of the federal government, VA, and each of its Administrations, with a primary focus on VHA.
You will be responsible for providing CDCE/Voluntary Service program management and overall program operations support.
You will be responsible for the management and execution of a diverse portfolio of enterprise-wide programs, activities, and services in support of VA's overarching goals and priorities utilizing community resources.
You will build key relationships for the purpose of influencing, motivating or persuading individuals and organizations to contribute and advocate on behalf of the agency mission through monetary and in-kind giving, as well as capacity- building initiatives to augment the volunteer corps.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am-4:00 pm.

Physical Requirements: Work is moderately sedentary, although considerably variable. It requires a fair amount of standing, sometimes for long periods, walking, climbing stairs, and bending. Work may require some heavy to moderate lifting, transporting of materials, equipment and supplies for special events and other programs. Due to the diverse nature and scope of the work, it may require occasionally working in extreme temperatures (hot or cold). Driving or riding in a vehicle is also required on a routine basis to provide coverage, trainings, or other support at off-site clinics; attend outside community meetings; and support special events. Travel may also occur in support of outreach events and conferences. The incumbent must attend lengthy meetings both during and after regular scheduled work hours. Travel to other medical center facilities is often necessary.
Work Environment: Work is primarily in a hospital setting involving possible exposure to contagious disease. The regular and recurring work environment involves everyday risks and discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of an office and a hospital. The CDCE/Voluntary Service office is a very busy environment with constant traffic from visitors, volunteers, etc. on a daily basis. Some duties may be performed off medical center property at other community locations or outpatient satellite clinics. Some travel may be required within and beyond the local community on some evenings or weekends.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Collect and compile statistical and program data's to present reports; Performs administrative operations such as receive, screen, and educate visitors, volunteers, staff, and patients; Manages calendar and events to coordinate department operation; Process and track gifts, donations, and budget; Conducts clerical functions with proficient utilization of multiline phone, timekeeping, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, excel, and Teams).
Applicants may not substitute education for the experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
