About the Position: Serves as an Administrative Support Assistant with the tribal office for the Seattle District (NWS) of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), providing clerical and administrative support to the Native American Program of the District.
Duties
Collect data for the creation and maintenance of a database for tribal leaders, tribal organizations, tribal staff, and other individuals in key roles in the numerous federally recognized tribes in the Pacific Northwest.
Provide customer service for the tribal office by responding to inquiries, taking messages, and directing verbal or written correspondence to tribal liaison.
Maintain property accountability and update and replace electronic systems and hardware with the Seattle District Information Technology using Refresh Track.
Prepare all correspondence, memorandums, and briefing materials for distribution to NWS leadership for tribal engagements. Ensure these materials are filed electronically in the appropriate databases.
Perform clerical support duties such as collecting information for official purchases, creating travel orders/vouchers, providing training support, etc.
Use automated systems to create, maintain and retrieve data, files and records management.
Serve as primary timekeeper, ensuring accurately and timely timekeeping and leave documentation.
Track all key activities using an automated calendar program, deconflicting scheduling issues as needed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing administrative functions of an office, to include (1) timekeeping or travel; (2) create and maintain records and databases or preparing and editing correspondence; and (3) interpret and apply regulations and policies to support program requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Typing Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
