NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. This position is located in the Division of Research Programs, Office of Assistant Chair for Programs, National Endowment for the Humanities. The Division of Research Programs is designed to promote original research in all disciplines of the humanities and humanistic social sciences through grants to scholars and academic institutions.
Duties
Participating in the administration of grants.
Preparing grant proposals.
Providing guidance and disseminates information to educational institutions.
Providing assistance to the Humanities Administrators and senior leadership.
Evaluating data and reporting findings to senior leadership.
Following up with applicants by email, telephone, and/or in person.
Responding to Congressional inquiries on grants management.
Prepare written materials for public presentation.
Perform assessments for assigned programs, including the evaluation of assigned resources, processes, and gaps.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen
- Relevant experience and/or education
- Favorable background investigation
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period
- Remote or Telework Eligible.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
At the GS-11 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level or equivalent experience.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: (1) assisting with grant program administration; (2) maintaining data through automated systems; (3) identifying administrative problems and recommending possible solutions; (4) monitoring programs, budget allocations, and obligations.

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
At the GS-12 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level or equivalent experience.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: (1) planning, executing, and evaluating grant programs administration; (2) maintaining data through automated systems; (3) recommending ways to improve the effectiveness of humanities programs; (4) monitoring programs, budget allocations, and obligations; ensuring compliance with policy, terms and conditions.
