The Head of Digital Content will strategize, create, and evaluate exciting and innovative digital, video and social media content that helps the National Gallery reflect and attract the United States, and become the nation’s primary resource for art and creativity. The Head of Content will lead a team of creative and data-informed content, video, and audio and social producers, who focus on creating, adapting, and promoting content across our digital platforms and products.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the NF-1084-15. For this position, candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the NF-14 level in the Federal service, planning, creating, and evaluating public-facing digital content for a major organization or institution that helps grow, engage and retain target audiences, both onsite and online. Rather, you must show in your resume how your past work experience demonstrates that you possess the KSAs identified below. If asked to do so, cite specific examples of employment or experience contained in your resume and describe how this experience has prepared you to successfully perform the duties of this position. DO NOT write "see resume" in your application! Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. Mastery knowledge of and demonstrated experience in digital project management and digital content creation for media organizations, for nonprofits, within the visual arts, museums, or cultural organizations. Mastery knowledge of and demonstrated experience creating video and audio content strategy and execution for media organizations, for nonprofits, within the visual arts, museums, or cultural organizations. Mastery knowledge of and demonstrated experience in website content development, content management systems (e.g. Drupal), some knowledge of HTML/CSS. Mastery knowledge and demonstrated experience managing social media projects, including strategy, content and partnerships for media organizations, for nonprofits, within the visual arts, museums, or cultural organizations. Extensive writing and communication experience, including leading and participation on cross-functional teams dedicated to improving user experiences through writing, information architecture and content design. Leadership skills and experience, with an ability to recruit, inspire and develop a team of specialists  "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Education

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. Some positions may also require subject-matter knowledge of medicine, science, or technical equipment.

Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
