About the Position: This is a Secretary (Office Automation) position located at Elmenforf AFB, Alaska.

Duties

Perform journeyman level work with assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the full performance grade level. Direct, coordinate, monitor and evaluate significant projects and activities concerning Command Group and Command-wide administrative issues in order to recommend actions or develop policy to improve administrative operations. Represent the senior civilian in exercising the administrative functions of that office on a daily basis. Provide technical assistance to and coordinates with tasked parties to assemble appropriate responses. Establish and implement prescribed internal controls to ensure adequate control in terms of deadlines, progress reports, and directives. Keep command informed of new or revised administrative policies, regulations and procedures that affect administrative controls and functions of the organization. Serve as the primary coordinator of all replies to special correspondence to ensure appropriate, timely response.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in administrative operations such as performing one or more of the following: (1) managing calendars, appointments, or suspense's (2) assisting in reviewing or developing policies to improve operations (3) providing secretary duties such as preparing correspondence, scheduling appointments, maintaining deadlines, preparing reports or PowerPoints or spreadsheets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as, Business Administration, Public Management, or Human Resources. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalPlanning and EvaluatingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
