About the Position: This position is located at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.
Duties
Serve as the principal office assistant performing various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization.
Perform office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics in support of the clerical and administrative work.
Prepare a wide variety of recurring and some nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents and reviews and finalizes correspondence/documents prepared by others in handwritten or electronic drafts.
Consolidate and finalize information for various reports in accordance with established reporting procedures.
Gather and summarize information from files and documents for supervisor’s use in responding to inquiries, recognizing which information is or is not relevant to the issue at hand.
Proofread and edit correspondence and documents for correct grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and format.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with clerical duties such as, performing one or more of the following: scheduling meetings or appointments or conferences, preparing or reviewing correspondences, creating or reviewing power point slides, excel worksheets or reports, utilizing office automation software to draft or review correspondences or enter and retrieve data, assisting customers with basic inquiries, or maintaining automated or paper files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
